When carrying out the vibration analysis of a bladed disk, it has been expedient to assume that all blades on a given disk are identical. This leads to the prediction that all blades experience the same amplitudes of displacement and stress, when excited by forces harmonically related to the rotor speed.. However, it has been shown experimentally that significant variations in these amplitudes occur for different blades on the same disk. These variations arise due to the effect of mistuning, which refers to small differences in blade characteristics. Although it is well-known that the mistuning has an undesirable effect on the forced vibration and a desirable effect on the self-excited vibration, these effects have not been evaluated precisely due to the complexity of the mistuned system. In this paper, an effective analysis method for the forced and self-excited vibration of a mistuned bladed disk system is proposed, applying the concept that the vibration modes of the mistuned system can be represented by those of the tuned system. The parametric study is carried out to examine the mistuning effect on vibration characteristics of a bladed disk.
