On a concept of an internal reheat hydrogen gas turbine, in which hydrogen gas is discharged into the turbine passage to reheat the working gas, an experimental single stage turbine was manufactured and operated. The operations indicated that the turbine is demonstrated. Almost complete combustion efficiencies of the hydrogen gases discharged from the trailing edges of the nozzle vanes for the internal reheat are achieved in a wide range of bleeding rates. The increments in the output powers by the internal reheat are observed, and they indicate 30% to 70% of those by a one-dimensional turbine performance analysis. Concentrations of NO_x are not changed by the internal reheat at temperatures of 1240K, but concentrations of NO are diminished by the reheat process and are correlated with the concentrations of remained hydrogen gases. Considerable problems have not been caused in the turbine structures concerned with the internal reheat, although the combustion of hydrogen gas in the turbine has been experienced for eleven and a half hours in total.
