Nondestructive testing for the Ceramic Gas Turbine (CGT) project has been studied. Two X-ray CT applied to the parts and materials of the CGT have been studied. In a micro-focus X-ray CT (MFX-CT), the relationship between the detectability of defects (pores) and the dimension of the testing objects has been measured by using some models of silicon nitride ceramics doped with artificial pores with some different shapes. Better than 0.5% for the detectability has been obtained for the square and round pores in cylindrical silicon-nitride ceramics. The pores with the size less than 100mm could be detected in the sample with diameter more than 20mm in dimension The effect of outer shapes of testing objects on the detectability of the MFX-CT has been studied. High energy X-ray CT combined with a linac allowed to inspect large parts, such as the rotor of gas generation turbine (GGT) and the assemble of static nozzles of GGT. This method yielded high quality CT images for those large parts due to the high penetration of the high energy of the X-ray.
