Cure monitoring by fiber optic sensors was most promising method to inspect cure progress of molding large and complex-shaped composites because the embeddable sensors can monitor very small area in materials. In the present paper, we propose cure monitoring of polymers by refractive index measurement by embedded optical fibers. The method was applied to monitor degree of cure of epoxy and chain cure polymers. From the results, it was shown that the method could be used to measure absolute DOC at real time with good reproducibility. In addition, the fast acquisition of DOC data was accomplished successfully for very fast cure progress of chain curing polymers.
