A new cure monitoring technique in composites molding process, which uses in situ sensors, has been recently proposed. The in situ cure monitoring technique gives us important information of products such as degree of cure (DOC), voids, defects and residual stress at real time in molding process. In addition, the total time of curing process can be reduced by optimizing cure conditions. Therefore, this technique improves reliability of products and reduces manufacturing costs. This paper describes recent researches on in situ cure monitoring in composites molding process. Popular sensors used for in situ cure monitoring such as optical fiber sensors, dielectric sensors, piezoelectric sensors and ultrasonic sensors were reviewed. These researches show feasibility of practical application of in situ cure monitoring to real composite parts.
