The purpose of this study is to evaluate experimentally the hollow shaft planetary gear. Such design is very difficult for a planetary gear because position of a sun gear is in the center. However, high precision gears for servo motors needs are required in the machine industries, and in addition, hollow shaft gears market is recently expanding. For the special applications, low reduction ratio, small backlash, and high efficiency are necessary, nowadays. This planetary gear has achieved less than 3arc-min backlash, high precision, and hollow shaft design.
