This study addresses the factors that contribute to the booksharing environment for young infants. The parents of infants aged 4 and 10 months old participated in this study. Information on the booksharing environment at home and other contributory factors, such as: the infants temperamental characteristics at 4 months, an appreciation of the booksharing activity and the infant's communication development at 10 months, were obtained from questionnaires. It was found that the presence of siblings increased the frequency of booksharing activity for the 4 months old infants. The infants' temperamental characteristics at 4 months of age influenced the book sharing environment and continued to differentiate the booksharing environment when the infants were 10 months old.
