This essay seeks to describe how E-Learning has been adopted in Miyagi University and examine how effective and meaningful it has been in the context of English education Miyagi University has expected. E-Learning has been introduced to the curriculum of the School of Project Design and Business Planning in Miyagi University in April, 2004. The chief purpose of this introduction was to rescue the students who failed to fulfill the requirement of English, namely TOEIC Score 500 set initially at the outset of the inauguration of the university. The E-Learning has been integrated into the system of English curriculum as part of 'by-pass' for English A which demands the score of TOEIC 500. Yokohama Municipal University also experienced the same case as Miyagi University in that TOEIC score 500 as an absolute requirement to proceed to the higher grade or graduate has posed a political imbroglio where a significant number of students are expected to fail, which the mass media featured. How did Miyagi University, then, tide this crisis? Did E-Learning work as a rescue measure? In a nutshell, the answer is positive, though truly educationally speaking, many questions remain unanswered.
