In the year 1901, Emile Galle gave the questioned vase to Reinach as a symbol of homage due to the result of the "Dreyfus Affair". The vase was inscribed with <Vitam impedere Vero> from its creator Yvenalis. Although this specific inscription is clearly where the message lies, recently, the actual symbol of the design on the vase has been undergoing detailed examination from people from all walks of life ; and has resulted in new opinions of the actual message of the vase. However, my opinion differs from these views, and, in addition, I will present my objections to the proliferating false journalism and media surrounding this issue. First, during the era in which Galle lived, common knowledge surrounding the brain and its functions was severely limited. Furthermore, information on the relation between the hippocampus and memory had not even been proven. Next, the anatomical term hippocampus being used as a term for the brain structure was coined by J.G. Arantio (1530-1589) in Italy. He termed it such as the hippocampus resembles the image of Poseidon riding a seahorse. If, however, there was some sort of connection between the hippocampus as a part of the brain and the vase gifted to Reinach, the fact that the hippocampus is one of the brain's centers for short-term memory would definitely be an awkward choice for a gift symbolizing something needed to be remembered. In conclusion, I consider that there is no relation between the memory function of the brain and ?ase Hippocampus 1901 The figure of Galle's was simply made for design purposes, as a result making it independent from the memory.
