It is simple but difficult to draw a picture. Although poeople can draw freely, they often hesitate to do so. I analyzed this phenomenon from the standpoints of the human development stages, the history of Japanese art education, and the results of questionnaire to students. And I analyzed the meaning of drawing pictures on the basis of the theory of Victor Lawenfeld. I think that dwawing accurately, which means making an essential copy of a real thing, is basically impossible, because a great deal of drawing as an act depends on the state of the painter's mind. That is, the feeling of shame about his lack of skill and the nervousness about others' evaluation to his work affect his making pictures. Drawing and painting accurately often lead to general understanding and tend to be highly evaluated by everybody. But it would be unfavorable that drawing and painting accurately prevent us from making images freely and creatively. Art will bring us a wonderful world of feeling and sense, if the accurate rendering of the outsaide objects and the representation of the inner feeling correspond each other. I also added a few consideration to the problem of the art education for students of school non attendance.
