The studies reported in the previous paper were carried out mainly on the fundamental problems concerning with the procedure of color development of phosphomolybdenum blue. The optimum procedure for the spectrophotometric determination of phosphorus was explained from the results obtained. In this paper the method was further investigated in order to develope a new analytical procedure for determining phosphorus in various samples. Effects of various ions on phosphomolybdenum blue method for determining phosphorus were studied. The difficulties are encountered with this method in the presence of oxidizing ions such as iron (III), nitrate and nitrite often contained in samples or in reagents used through the run of digestion. A simple and rapid procedure for eliminating the interferences caused by those ions was established and applied to determination of phosphorus in several kinds of samples containing iron or large amounts of diverse elements. Analysis of industrial acetylene, organic phosphorus compounds and polluted water was also studied. Phosphomolybdenum blue method was further utilized for determining small amount of tin. A suitable method was recommended based on the discussions of hitherto known method.
