The classification of leucocytes on the basis of their "moving types" and the calculation of the "average type-numbers" by KURIHARA (1944) are considered as an interesting, valuable and unique diagnostic method in human medicine. We have studied the possibility of applying the same method in clinical diagnosis of horses, and the results obtained may be summarized as follows: 1) In healthy horses the average type-number was found to be 5.41±0.30 for neutrophilic leucocytes, 5.69±0.15 for the eosinophilic, and 5.70±0.17 for monocytes. The peaks of the moving type-curve were represented, in every case, by the type V cells of KURIHARA 2) In the anemia-infected horses, however, any of the average type-numbers.for the abovementioned three kinds of leucocytes exceeded 6.0, a value which is apparently abnormal, the peak of each moving type-curve being invariably represented by KURIHARA's type IV cells. 3) In the cases where the eosinophilic completely disappeared, giving high values of the average type-numbers of the othor two kinds of leucocytes, the horses were usually observed to die in a few days. 4) Even the anemia-infected horses that were found in non-febrile period and gave negative results for siderocytes and normal hemogramms, showing, however, a positive liver punction picture, gave always pathological values of the average of the type-numbers under consideration.
