• As for some of S gyro compasses, the author analyzed the reliability from the failure data. As the result, it was clarified that the reliability function in the initial failure period is shown as R(t)=exp{-(t-0.9)^<0.6>/4.5} and that MTBF of the senior and the junior type is 11, 156h and 20, 918h respectively. Using these data, the author tried the dynamic programing on which 10% increase of the system reliability is expected by stand-by redundancy of some units subject to 18% increase of the cost.
