An anomalous case of the double superior venae cavae with the bilaterally synmetrical azygos veins has been reported. This case was found in a male Japanese cadaver of 64 years old. The left superior vena cava was formed by union of the left internal jugular, left external jugular and left subclavian veins. It coursed vertically downward in front of the arch of the aorta and left pulmonary artery and continued through the coronary sulcus and opened into the right atrium. It received a complete azygos vein. This case corresponds to the type D of the classification of the anomalies of the superior vena cava of Nandy and Blair (1965).
