Differences in culture, daily life, the family unit, and socio-economic aspects all play roles in the way a senior is cared for by their family or friends. Since each country has different values and customs, this can be clearly seen in how the elderly are cared for. This area which is rarely researched reveals a deep relationship between the daily life of people and what they have accomplished throughout their lives. This approach is continually validated by both Social as well as Care Workers. However, research of the care and welfare of seniors, has not been studied or reviewed nearly as much as needed in Japan. A complete study of this area would greatly benefit researchers as well as Care Workers. Additionally, the relationship between someone's culture and the environment in which they are living, is also an important aspect. To look at how a senior is treated and cared for when not in his or her country, means a look at the care system's and daily life awareness of culturally sensitive issues. This study focuses on the above concepts.
