Replication bands were induced in the metaphase chromosomes of Channa punctatus (2n=32) by in vivo incorporation of 5-bromodeoxy-uridine (BrdU) into DNA during S phase. The late replication bands permitted identification of individual chromosomes. Ag-NOR bearing chromosomes were also unequivocally determined with silver staining.
