Accuracy is one of the factors which show L2 learners' speaking ability. Acquiring grammatical knowledge is crucial to improve their accuracy. However, to have grammatical knowledge is one thing, and to use it properly another. In this paper the author analyzed data taken from the recordings of students describing orally what the people in a picture were doing. In order to examine accuracy in their picture description, two grammatical items were focused on : 1) the present progressive form of verbs and 2) the article coming before the subject of a sentence. It was found that the article 'A' was difficult for the students to use properly, compared with the present progressive form of verbs. More opportunities to use targeted grammatical items should be given to L2 learners so that they can speak accurately.
