The Ministry of Civil Affairs of China has started and initiated the community education to promote the social progress and the economical development ever since the middle of the 1980s. The community education of China can be said to be a new kind of education accompanying the successful implementation of the reform and open policy. Tracing the history of the community education of China, we can see that in its early development, the community education, which has drawn more and more public attention, is the continuation of the schooling education. Now that the community and schooling education in the world have merged into each other today, how is it that the community and schooling education develop together, help and cooperate with each other with the idea of lifelong education rooted in people's mind? This paper elaborates the conceptions of the community and the community education and summarizes the history of the community education in China from the relationship of the community and schooling education, on the basis of which the inevitability of its development in China and the topic it is facing are further examined.
