Single carrier FDMA (SC-FDMA) is promising technology as an attractive alternative to OFDMA system thanks to low PAPR property. It is adopted as uplink candidate in 3GPP long term evolution (LTE) system. SC-FDMA based LTE uplink system provides random access with synchronized way and non -synchronized way. In particular, the latter is used for contention-oriented initial network entry. Multiple UEs may perform random access simultaneously through the same channel and Contention resolution is achieved by exploiting the cross correlation property of random access codes. Theoretically, random access codes provide orthogonality among UEs. However, it is susceptible to the channel characteristics in the multipath fading environment. This paper will analyzed the performance of non-synchronized random access based on SC-FDMA with various channel environments. It will be the guideline in designing LTE uplink system
