An enantioselective Michael addition of thiophenols to 2-cyclohexen-l-one was performed with catalysts of γ-amino alcohols that were synthesized from D-glucose. A linear relationship between the optical yield of this Michael addition and the specific rotation of the γ-amino alcohol catalysts was clearly observed.
