A Modified U-slot patch antenna using a small metallic oblong-strip with different angles in respect to the center line as the bottom layer is presented numerically and validated experimentally. Numerical results of return loss is obtrained by the finite-difference time domain (FDTD) method instead of using commercial software packages such as HFSS, IE3D, and CST. It is proved that the modified U-slot patch antenna is capable of multi-band operation, high antenna efficiency, and good impedance matching.
