Background: The population of individuals who are getting worse with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) before they notice their chronic illness is growing. However we know little about Health-care needs of patients with Mild and Moderate COPD. Objective: The purpose of this study was to explore what patients with Mild and Moderate COPD recognize to their health-care needs. Methods: A descriptive qualitative design was used. Semi structured interviews was carried out. Participants: The study participants included 5 males and 1 female with Mild and Moderate COPD. Findings: The findings were described following six headings: "Early detection of COPD", "Providing for general physical information and specific knowledge and Encouragement of understanding", "Developing attitude toward illness", "Promoting well relationship between patients and medical staff and providing opportunity to communicate", "Monitoring of coping skills", "Caring for individual". Conclusion: This study will make notice needs of out patients with Mild and Moderate COPD. Participants had tendencies to feel isolate and helplessness at these stages. These findings suggested that patients needed to obtain correct knowledge and more confidential understandings and to develop self-efficacy and self-reliance among individual care.
