The study on the oscillating flow of electrically conducting fluids is not only essential in the field of magnetohydrodynamics, but also has various interesting applications for the engineering point of view. In this paper the author improved and developed theoretically the problems on the flow of electrically conducting fluids through pipes under the uniform transverse magnetic fields and the influence of periodic pressure gradient, and obtained the exact solutions for the case of plane-parallel channels which have non-conducting walls. These are the generalized solutions containing the limiting cases of the oscillating flow of viscous fluids (H->0), and of the steady flow of conducting fluids (λ->O). Under the very slowly oscillating pressure gradient, the velocity and the induced fields oscillate with the same phase as the pressure gradient has, and amplitudes are approximately equal to those for the steady flow of conducting fluids. On the other hand, under the very quickly oscillating pressure gradient, the velocity and the induced fields have the generalized annular effects of Richardson and Tyler.
