Recent works in unsteady flow problems induced by vasomotion and also by elastic vessels are surveyed, and the motive of the study for unsteady flow induced by an elastic vessel with permeable wall is declared. The method to analyze the unsteady flow of a viscous, incompressible fluid induced by either contraction or expansion of an occluded elastic vessel with permeable wall, is proposed Two vessels are studied one is a rectangular tube whose aspect ratio is so large that it is to be a plane-parallel channel, the other is a circular tube. Following three typical models are investigated. (a) The length of a tube contracts or expands with time but its cross-section remains constant. (b) The length of a tube remains constant but its cross-section contracts or expands with time. (c) The length of a tube together with its cross-section contracts or expands with time. Chracteristics for the unsteady flow induced by a porous elastic motion of a vessel are discussed. The approved conditions for linear approximated solutions are examined. In conclusion, linear approximation will be valid if the elastic motion is slow enough, or if the condition of injection is nearly equal to its critical value. It is noticed that for a rapid contracting process, only the value of the injection condition is important regardless of the value of the condition of the elastic motion.
