Most of the students who study "programming language" for computers for the first time encounter various kinds of problems. While helping them with their questions out of class, these questions were recorded and then analyzed. Some results are as follows: 1. The relation between the number of times a student asked a question and the score of his/her final examination a. As for the study of COBOL language, the more often a student asked questions, the higher his/her score. b. As for the study of FORTRAN language, the same relation was found as for COBOL with the exception that when students asked questions more than five times, the resultant score was a little lower. 2. The kinds of questions First, most of the questions asked were those concerning input/output statements, which indicates that the input/output statements of the languages are not very good and clear in themselves. Next, many students could not understand the ordering sequence of the essential structure of a programming language, it is vital of the essential structure of a programming language, it is vital for students to understand it. Much more research, therefore, is needed in the area of how to teach the ordering sequence of these statements.
