The author presented an observation method based on an occupational frame of reference, observing a 19 year-old autistic child. The occupational frame of reference showed the uniqueness of the occupational intervention process. This frame of reference consists of occupational performance (self-care activities, work/study activities, and play/leisure time activities) and performance components (motor, perceptual, cognitive, sensory, emotional, interpersonal). The author demonstrated how to use this frame of reference to observe the autistic child, including the weak points and strong points of the child. An unique observational method as an evaluation tool for occupational therapy was demonstrated.
