In this paper, improved points of infrared data communication system in the robot which participated in the national college robot contest 2004 are described. In the robot that was produced in the preceding year, the intermittent action of the robot that the processing of communication signal caused was a problem. Therefore, transmit and receive algorithm of the signal are revamped. In addition, the speedup of the carrier frequency of the infrared signal, the compaction of the transmission and receiver circuit, and more, were carried out. As the result, the operationality and the response of the robot can be improved. However, the new problem that the stability of the communication declines appears, when the robot is maneuvered from the perpendicular direction for the infrared light reception module. As a remedy, the method using multiple infrared light reception modules is experimented, and it is confirmed to be a certain advantageous effect in the extension of the receivable range of the signal.
