Follow-up observations of Kiso UV-excess galaxies (abbreviated as KUGs) are in progress in optical and radio wavelength ranges. Photometric observations of selected KUGs were made using the Picdu-Midi 2-m telescope. Low-resolution spectrograms were taken with the Cassegrain image-intensifier spectrograph attached to the Okayama 188-cm telescope. Radio observations were made using the Nobeyama 45-m and Nancay 300-m radio telescopes. This study reveals the fundamental characteristics of KUGs; most KUGs have giant HII regions or conglomerates of HII regions in them, and they are rich in young stars, gas and dust. They have much higher star forming activity than their normal correspondents, belonging to the category of the starburst galaxy. In consequence, the KUG survey contains far more faint UV-excess galaxies than the 1st Markarian survey, and it efficiently collects a number of those galaxies of various morphological types and luminosity classes.UV-excess galaxiesstarburst galaxiesHII regionsspectroscopyphotometry
