Magnesium material receives much attention in many industrial fields recently, because of the special properties such as lightest weight in practical metals and high stiffness rate. The other hand, X-ray stress measurement is one of an effective method of nondestructive testing to measure the residual stresses on material surface. The main purpose of this study is high precision measurement of residual stresses in magnesium alloy. The two problems were solved in this study. On is the X-ray elastic constant which is necessary to measure in each materials, another is deformation texture in state of delivery. Therefore, as preparation, magnesium samples was melted in vacuum furnace and made rapidly-solidified by water quenching. Finally, the results of the stress measurement in the before preparation samples are compared with the result to after preparations.
