This paper addresses the development and design of the 25kg class nano-satellite HAUSAT-2 (Hankuk Aviation University SATellite-2), being developed by SSRL (Space System Research Lab.) of Hankuk Aviation University. This is the second satellite system development program executed at the university level in Korea. Ultra-small satellite can be utilized as a space technology test bed. HAUSAT-2 is intended to be a verification platform for the Korea's first space-borne star tracker and a GPS receiver. New technologies for ultra-small satellite, such as plug-and-play type Bus Electronics Unit (BEU), attitude control method, and energy balance analysis of body-mounted solar panels, were implemented on HAUSAT-2. Engineering skills and technologies obtained by the process of programs such as these will be an enabler for the 'responsive space' that will leverage the low cost, high efficiency ultra-small satellites.
