"COCET 3300" refers to 1) the word list with 3300 items essential for the students studying science and engineering and 2) an e-learning site under the management of NIME (the National Institute of Multimedia Education). The 3300 items were originally selected by a project members consisting of teachers of English at colleges of technology for their own students. The characteristics of the word list are as follows; 1) it contains many technical and scientific words and their related phrases, which general learners' dictionaries do not give, and 2) commentaries about each word to help students memorize the words are given. The teachers also developed the Web-based tests designed to motivate students' vocabulary learning and help them master the 3300 items effectively. The e-learning site "COCET 3300" now under the management of NIME is a sophisticated version of the self-developed Web-based tests. This paper reports the process of how "COCET 3300" was developed and how it is used in English classes at colleges of technology.
