Three puppies 40 days old, three puppies 70 days old and four adults were inoculated the infective eggs of Toxocara cants. The clinical and hematological observations were done before and after inoculation. On the 3rd, 6th and 9th day after infection they were examined for the worms in their body, and the pathological examinations were also done. While in puppies 40 days old the larvae took the normal migratory course, in puppies 70 days old a part of them migrated to the portions not involved in the normal course, and in adults all of them distributed throughout the body and could not complete the migration. The failure of the establishment of this worm in adults would lie in this fact. In the olders the invasion of the larvae in the intestinal wall and their migration on the normal course needed more times than in youngers. Even in puppies 40 days old the larvae which have returned to the alimentary canal may be eliminated out of body. In puppies 40 days old the worms showed marked growth on the 9th day after infection, but only slightly in puppies 70 days old, and never in adults. The clinical symptoms had relation to the migratory behavior of the worm. The decrease in the erythrocyte and hemoglobin and the increase in the leucocyte were observed in the earlier stages of infection. This increase in the leucocyte may have resulted from that in the neutrophil. The increase in the eosinophil in the later stages was more marked in olders than in youngers. The former, however, showed its maked decrease on the earlier stages. The pathological changes paralleled with the differences in the migratory behavior of the worms and in the resistance of the host among various age groups.
