This study was related to the movement of the equality of the sexes given at the U. N., making clear the present situation of boys' and girls' housework participation in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo. The results showed the differences between boys' and girls' housework participation based on a questionaire about housework and general use of time. They thought that the parsonal care was what they had to do, but felt they didn't have to cook, wash or mend clothes. In order to reach a society where fixed sex roles will dissolve, men and women will have to share the responsibilities of household duties. To do this we need to educate pupils and students in the importance of equality between the sexes. Home economics must be the basis of education for equality of the sexes, and we must promote boys and girls to participate in housework in order to help realize equality of the sexes at home.
