軟骨性腫瘍の臨床病理学的研究 : 特に電顕組織化学的所見を中心に

Surgically excised cartilaginous tumors (fourteen cases of chondrosarcoma, fifty cases of osteocartilaginous exostosis, forty-nine cases of enchondroma and seven cases of chondroblastoma) were followed up and examined by light microscopy. In addition, eighteen cases of cartilaginous tumors and two cases of cartilaginous osteosarcoma were stained with ruthenium red as previously reported by Luft. All sections were examined by electron microscpy without heavy metal staining. The results and conclusions are as follows : 1) Tumor behavior of chondrosarcoma is closely related to its histopathology. 2) But concerning "borderline tumors", it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between chondrosarcoma and benign cartilaginous tumors by light microscopy. 3) Cartilage matrices of each tumor show characteristic ultrastructure when stained by ruthenium red. 4) Elecron microscopic histochemistry is available for the further diagnostic study of cartilaginous tumors.
