• The purpose of this paper is to examine possibilities of funeral industry in an aging time. Section 2 attempts to explore the situation of this industry in Japan. Section 3 focuses the condition of that industry in Iwaki City. As a result, it is clear that because there is a limit to the amount of demand, funeral industry is not a growing one and the competition for customer acquisition is intense in Iwaki city. Then, in order to cope with this situation, a successful company thinks the following four factors as important: (1) cheap funeral expense, (2) high quality serviece, (3) increasing its membership, (4) locating close to customers.
