The problems of elastic-plastic tension of the semicircular edge notched strips and the circular holed strips are numerically investigated by means of the finite element method. The stress and strain concentration ratios at the notch root of those two kinds of strips are obtained in small scale yielding. The validity of Neuber's equation for the stress and strain concentration ratios is discussed by making use of the numerically analyzed results. The plastic enclaves adjacent to the notch root at some representative stages of calculation are found. The following results are obtained. As the nominal stress of the notched strips increases, the stress concentration ratios discreases. On the contrary the strain concentration ratios increases. This tendency is clearly shown where the stress concentration factor of the notched strip increases. The Neuber's equation (ασ・αε=α^2_H) gives larger values of the plastic stress and strain concentration ratios than the ratios given by the finite element method. The discrepancy between the analyzed results and Neuber's equation is within 17% at maximum as far as present analyzation is concerned. It is observed that the plastic enclaves adjacent to the notch root stagnante according as the stress concentration factor increases.
