概要

• Nutrition management is becoming widely recognized by many physicians in Japan as very important for the treatment of patients with various medical conditions, including infections and malignancies, and during recovery from major surgery. Recently, the new concept of "immunonutrition" has been introduced and is being applied to many cases of disease. Here we outline the fundamentals of nutritional assessment, estimation of adequate calorie intake for patients with infectious diseases, and selection of nutrition routes in line with recent guidelines and articles.
