In the previous reports, we have investigated the distribution of arsenic accumulated by the Hijiki plants harvested along the seashore of Waniura district of the Tsushima Archipelago. For further investigation, we collected Hijiki plants along the seashores of other eight districts of the Tsushima Archipelago, Japan in May 2000. Hijiki plants, washed with distilled water, were separated into several parts such as apexes, leaves, stalks and filamentous holdfasts. Thereafter, the samples were lyophilized. Arsenic was determined by neutron activation analysis in the nuclear reactor of Research Reactor Institute, Kyoto University. The non-uniformity of arsenic localization in individual plants along their stems was shown as found in the previous investigation, when expressed in μg arsenic per g of wet or dry weight (ppm).
