In the 13^<th> and 14^<th> centuries, the Dai-on ulus (the Yuan Dynasty) ruled entire China. During this period, two Mongol families produced many administrative leaders of South China, that is, the Muqali family of the Jalair tribe and the Sube'etei family of the Uriangqan tribe. This study discusses their political character. The conclusions, in brief, are as follows : 1) For about 30 successive years, these two families produced administrative leaders of South China under the reign of Qubilai Qa'an, the founder of the Dai-on ulus, and his successor Temiir Qa'an. They were heads of the Branch Secretariat of Jiangzhe 江浙 or the Branch Censorate. 2) These two families had produced army commanders for the conquest of China, from the reign of Cinggis Qan. Qubilai Qa'an appointed them as administrative leaders of South China. 3) After the reign of Qubilai, their political character slightly altered, although on the whole they remained generals.
