In this paper, I discuss a diachronic change of old Japanese which express "wish". In old Japanese there are particles "moga" and "shika", which demonstrate "wish". Prototypically a sentence which has one of such particles expresses one's wish for a certain object in Nara era. But the sentence also can be used as an expression which demonstrates one's wish that something should be a certain condition. The second use has strong lexical constraint.
