The influence of the cluster size on the physical properties of the melt, i.e., homogeneous nucleation rate, critical radius, supercooling degree for crystallization, etc., has been studied by investigating the crystallization temperatures from the quenched glass made out of several Li_2B_4O_7 melts which were initially soaked at various temperatures. The theoretical modeling of the cluster-size-dependent entropy of the melt has been developed based on the classical homogeneous nucleation theory, which well explains the experimental relationship between the crystallization temperature and the melt soaking temperature, provided that the quenched glass retains the melt structure at the soaking temperature. The discussion made here is applicable to growth from solution as well as growth from gaseous phase.clusterhomogeneous nucleation ratemixing entropyDTAsoaking temperature
