The distribution of a powerful chelating agent, TTA, and its typical trivalent metal chelate, that of scandium (III), between aqueous perchlorate solution (μ=0.1) and 12 ether solvents was determined at 25°. A good correlation was found between the distribution coefficient of TTA and the "solubility parameter" of the ether solvents, except bis(2-chloroethyl)ether. The distribution coefficient of the scandium chelate (P_M) was compared with that of TTA (P_<HA>), and it was confirmed that the relationship expressed by log P_M=nlog P_<HA>+const., is valid for the present system.
