The changes, in a ferromagnetic substance, of (1) the reversible permeability at the remanence point, (2) the residual magnetization and (3) the energy of magnet ization from the remanence point to magnetic saturation, due to the action of external tension, were discussed taking into account the internal stress existing in the substance. These quantities were measured on the Perminvar wire under the action of external tension and the results were compared with the theoretical one. The strength of internal stress existing in the Perminvar wire was estimated.
