The purpose of this study was to observed the relationship between the magnitude and the direction of force effective in striking for a skilled Kendoist and a non-Kendoist. The results obtained were summarized as follows : 1) The force was constantly directed at about an angle of 60 degree with the floor in striking for a skilled Kendoist. For a non-Kendoist, however, the direction of force was changed from change of striking speed. 2) The magnitude of force effective in striking was 1.87 times his body weight in a skilled Kendoist. This magnitude was constant regardless of various striking speeds. 3) The unweight movements in striking was more smoothly and quickly in a skilled Kendoist than in non-Kendoist. 4) The duration of take-off at the end of striking was shorter in a skilled Kendoist than in non-Kendoist.
