The purpose of this paper is to show a nature of norm in modern society. The norm is one of expectation pattern. The basic principle at issue in this study is that every defined rule in our society corresponds to a psychological and societal operation. I think norm a social system. I should point out that we must recognize the existence of several factors that affect the whole system. The factors are contingencies. The contingencies make out many probabilities. And these probabilities lead to that system malfunction. Thinking about the nature of norm, nature of contingency must be carefully taken into account consideration.
