This paper proposes a new digital serial communication system. While the conventional system uses two levels, namely 0 and 1, as a signal level, the proposed system introduces a new signal level called-1. As the pair of bits which most frequently occurr in data sequences os replaces by the level -1, the proposed method can reduce the time required for data transmission by approximately 86% at maximum. The transsceiver equipment which uses the proposed system has been successfully demonstrated and its correct operation is confimend.
