A creeping environmental change may be much more dangerous than a rapid one. People say that a frog gets away as soon as thrown into a hot water, to be sure, but he misses a chance to escape and dies in a water which is warm at the start and hot then before long by heating. Such a "boiled frog" effect now seems to be ruining the Japanese Management System. This paper aims to model a way out of the crisis caused by a "boiled frog" effect. It is divided into two parts. One brings into question why most of Japanese firms insist on the incremental adjustment. A tentative answer is that their language system becomes too stiff to react. Therefore the role of metaphor is endorsed to revitalize the stalled language system. The other sorts out various adjustments of Japanese firms into three layers of the management system in proportion to the extent of their destructive effect. The first superficial layer which directly interacts with the environment by restructuring has considerable endurance. The third deep layer which so closes its members in that not an environmental injury comes in, by contrast, is very fragile. The second in-between layer which has no choice but to change itself by seriously reengineering ought be important for Japanese firms because of its extensiveness.
