• In order to discover what actually happens in required English speaking classes at Hiroshima University, teachers received a questionnaire in which to report on their own classroom practices. The questionnaire solicited information about teaching goals, methods, materials, and views on professional development issues. It also provided teachers with an opportunity to make suggestions concerning the improvement of these courses. This paper reports on the results of this survey.
