Health care providers need to know how to work effectively in caring for patients from foreign nations to achieve quality care and to ensure good health outcomes. We report a case of language barriers when a Peruvian woman complicated with Uterine myoma and informed consent was demanded for surgical operation. The good points and problems about the relationships among the patient, the medical staffs and the interpreter are discussed. Special attention is needed for the existence of interpreter. The consciousness of the medical staffs of understanding patient's anxiety and different cultures is crucial.
