• Noether identities and the conservation law have been investigated in the Einstein-Cartan theory. If torsion exists, the covariant divergence of the Einstein tensor as well as the energy momentum tensor does not vanish. We have proven that this fact is however self-consistent in the framework under consideration, by employing Noether's procedure and constituting an alternative Lie derivative where a general coordinate transformation and a Lorentz rotation are combined.
